Amy Harts dad caused security alert meeting the Queen – but Palace made sweet gesture

Love Island's Amy Hart has revealed that her dad once "triggered a massive security alert" after "blagging his way" up to the Queen and "shaking her hand".

The pregnant 30 year old media personality took to Twitter to share the funny anecdote hours before it was announced that the 96 year old monarch had passed away "peacefully" at Balmoral.

She wrote: “My Dad went to Royal Ascot in the early 90s, managed to blag his way up to the Queen and shook her hand triggering a massive security alert.

“Dad was then in all the national papers (we have a huge photo board at home with all the cuttings that someone did for his 40th) he then wrote a letter to her to say it was lovely meeting her & to apologise for any embarrassment caused to her.

"And her private secretary sent one back from the Royal Yacht Britannia saying the Queen hoped that our family hadn’t had too much hassle and it was lovely meeting him too!”

Panic grew around the world yesterday (8 September) as Buckingham Palace released an unprecedented statement announcing that the Queen was under "medical supervision" at Balmoral.

The closest members of her family, including King Charles, as he is now known, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, Princess Anne and grandsons Prince William and Prince Harry, rushed to Balmoral to be with her.

It was then announced at 6.30pm that the Queen had died, with an official notice put out at Buckingham Palace which read: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

"The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."

Former Love Island star Amy recently announced that she is expecting her first child with her boyfriend Sam Rason after a whirlwind year-long romance.

She made the exciting announcement as she appeared on Loose Women at the end of August and told the ladies the news as she revealed that it was "very unexpected".

Her pregnancy came after she had frozen her eggs due to suffering with fertility issues.

Social media was awash with well wishes and congratulations as one person on Twitter commented: "Ahhh what lovely news !!! I am so happy for you Amy and Sam."

Another added: "What a lovely couple congratulations," while a third added: "I am literally crying whilst typing this – huge congratulations to Amy and Sam."
