Former CBBC presenter Angellica Bell has revealed she has high hopes for her friend Rhys Stephenson and admits he may have what it takes to win Strictly Come Dancing.

The 45 year old star added that the reason why so many CBBC stars and children's TV presenters do so well on the show is down to the fact that they have to open up.

"Rhys will be amazing," she shared. "He’s a great booking in terms of letting another audience tap into that show. So many CBBC presenters have done well – it’s a great place to learn your craft and diversify."

Angellica continued: "When you present to children you have to let yourself go.

“Children see the whites of your eyes – they know if you’re being honest.

"It’s lovely for me seeing talent from that pool expressing themselves in different ways.”

The TV star who now presents on The Martin Lewis Show looked back on her time presenting children's TV, detailing a moment Anne Robinson complimented her.

"What’s good about children’s television is I was able to work across different genres,” Angellica explained.

"Short Change was a mini Watchdog.

"I remember Anne Robinson coming up to me at Television Centre going, ‘That show is amazing.'

"That was a real moment for me."

The Celebrity Masterchef winner then explained why she will never have any regrets over starting out in kids' telly.

"My boss, Paul Smith, used to be Gordon The Gopher and knew what my strengths were," she told The Star.

"I can’t ever regret working at children’s television – it changed my life. I’ll always be eternally grateful.”

When Rhys, 27, was announced in the line-up of 2021, he said on Instagram: "I can’t wait to get started on this iconic show."

The star will be up against the likes of Katie McGlynn, Judi Love, Robert Webb and Tom Fletcher.
