Stacey Dooley, 34, and Kevin Clifton, 38, met on Strictly in 2018 and the rest became history. The two lovebirds announced they were moving in together after they confirmed their relationship following the end of the show, which they also won, but the former BBC professional dancer admitted he’s left all the interior design stuff in their new place to the journalist. And she couldn’t have been happier with that.

Are you mad?

While chatting to fellow Strictly stars Aljaz Skorjanec and Janette Manrara on their Twist and Shout podcast, Kevin openly admitted he isn’t one with an eye for detail like that.

And while Janette, who has been recently appointed as the new host on sister show It Takes Two, was eager to come round and see what Stacey had done to the place, Kevin was at a loss.

“All I hear is, ‘side return, side retune, side return,'” he moaned.

“I don’t know what that is!”

Laughing, Janette complimented Stacey’s “lovely colour scheme” but wondered if Kevin had any say in it.

“Are you like Aljaz in that sense, because at home I do all the decorating!” she giggled as her hubby grinned.

“He doesn’t get involved at all but when the piece comes in, he’ll be like, ‘I think it looks better on this wall…’

“I’m like, ‘Woah, woah, woah! You haven’t had any influence!'”

Aljaz chimed in sheepishly: “I do emotionally!”

Kevin kept quiet as Janette pressed: “Are you getting involved with Stacey at all or?”

Shrugging, he explained: “When we moved in, she started to talk about it and I said, ‘Look, I don’t really have an opinion on interior design enough.'”

“To her, the house was a project. And I see what she’s done and it’s definitely better, but I’d have happily lived in it the way it was, it doesn’t bother me!”

But while he remained quite placid about the whole thing, the journalist was stunned.

“She can’t believe it,” he added, “she was like, ‘Are you mad?!’

“So I said, ‘You do whatever you want to the interior design, what ever you’re happy with.'”

And it seemed his wish was her command as he added, chuckling: “She’s gone about doing the whole house, spending way more on it than I would have wanted to!”

Stacey has been posting regular updates of the work on Instagram, where she also answers any of her follower’s questions about the lengthy house make-over.
