David Beckham spoke out in view of his 55.6 million Instagram followers, saying there will “only ever be one Posh Spice”, the nickname for his wife Victoria Beckham. The former footballer, 44, shared a sweet and gushing post about his spouse, who is not taking part in the Spice Girls reunion tour. The now four-piece – Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton – will take to the stage at Croke Park in Dublin this evening. Despite opting out, he said his 45-year-old partner was going to still be “emotional” ahead of their big moment.
As someone that has lived with POSH SPICE for the last 23 years, I know how emotional today is going to be
Sharing an image of Victoria in the Spice Girls’ hey day, she was seen clad in black PVC as they shot their Say You’ll Be There music video.
David captioned it: “As someone that has lived with POSH SPICE for the last 23 years, I know how emotional today is going to be.
“But I just want to wish all the girls good luck with their amazing tour.”
The father-of-four then quipped: “There will only ever be one POSH SPICE @victoriabeckham @spicegirls.”
The star then went on to add: “Good luck to the girls today as the tour begins @spicegirls,” in a separate post.
Victoria also echoed his thoughts on her own Instagram page, writing: “Good luck to the girls today as they start their tour! x VB #SpiceGirls #FriendshipNeverEnds @EmmaLeeBunton @TheRealGeriHalliwell @OfficialMelB @MelanieCMusic.”
Prior to this, she had uploaded an epic throwback in view of her 25.3 million fans of her eldest child Brooklyn Beckham, 20, with his cousin Libby Adams – the daughter of her sister Louise.
She simply wrote: “Happy 21st birthday @libbyyadams we love u so so much X.”
Meanwhile, the Spice Girls will reunite on stage for the first time in seven years when they perform in Dublin.
The Spice World Tour was announced in November, and will be the first time the group has performed since the closing ceremony of the London Olympics.
Geri has shared images of the set-up for the performance, which features an imposing Spice World sculpture and large screens on each side of the stage.
The band had to deny rumours of a rift last month after Mel B missed the start of rehearsals for the comeback.
This followed claims she made that she had a one-night stand with Geri when the group were first together.
Original plans for the tour involved six dates, but this was later extended to 13 due to demand.
After tonight’s show, they will head to Cardiff (May 27), Manchester (May 29 to June 1), and Coventry (June 3-4).
This will be followed by Sunderland (June 6), Edinburgh (June 8), Bristol (June 10) before ending at London’s Wembley Stadium (June 13-15).
