Eamonn Holmes sparks frenzy as fans question his announcement ‘Leaving on a jet plane’

This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes, 60, has sparked a frenzy on Instagram by sharing his travel plans with his 666,000 followers. The star was questioned by fans when he revealed he was at an airport this afternoon, as travel restrictions are beginning to be relaxed following the coronavirus lockdown.

However, Eamonn admitted the experience was slightly more “eery” than usual as he waited to board his flight.

The star shared a clip of himself sitting in an empty departure lounge at Heathrow. 

He could be seen wearing a face mask and showed fans that the seats opposite him had been covered with signs that read: “Do not use this seat. Keep your distance.”

Eamonn added the caption: “Leaving on a Jet plane…

It wasn’t long before Eamonn was inundated with questions from fans who were wondering where he was travelling to.

“Take care, you off to Ireland Mr Holmes?” asked one person.

Another added: “Off to Belfast again no doubt?”

 

A third fan was desperate to find out whether Eamonn’s wife Ruth would be accompanying him, writing: “Stay safe!! Where’s Ruth??”

A fourth person asked: “Oh where are you going @eamonnholmes?”

A fifth fan commented: “Safe trip u off home to see your mammie and siblings?”

Eamonn previously made the journey to see his family earlier this month in Belfast for a family reunion.

The presenter revealed his homecoming was made even better by an advert he spotted as soon as he got off the plane.

Sharing a snap of a poster for Tayto crisps, Eamonn wrote: “The first sign that greets you at George Best Airport Belfast. 

“Now that’s a proper welcome.”

Meanwhile, Eamonn’s other half Ruth hit back at criticism about her outfit choices on This Morning.

The Loose Women star responded to a social media user who wrote: “Shame they put you in frumpy old women’s clothes on This Morning!!!!”

Ruth said her outfit worn on This Morning yesterday was her choice as she replied to the remark.

She replied: “I chose the outfit myself and was very happy with it…. 

“Can’t please all of the people all of the time.”
