Country star Eric Church dropped a new single, “Stick That in Your Country Song,” on Thursday (June 25) and followed it up with a lyric video for the track on Friday.
A press release that announced the release of the single described it as “a social commentary on the state of the world … a rallying cry for cities from Detroit to Baltimore and people from young military veterans to school teachers.”
Davis Naish and Jeffrey Steele co-wrote the song, which outlines social issues impacting people in cities like Detroit and Baltimore. It also deals with underpaid teachers and the status of veterans back from combat.
Church had earlier teased the new release in a video sent directly to members of his Church Choir fan community.
“I wanted you guys to hear from me first that a new single is about to hit the world,” he shared. “It’s gonna be the tip of the spear for what’s coming after, and it’s a big spear. I believe it’s the best we’ve ever been in our career.”
“Stick That in Your Country Song” will be part of Church’s upcoming album, which is yet to be titled. His previous record was Desperate Man, released in 2018.
