Fern Britton reveals how Phil Vickery ‘seduced’ her in 2009
This Morning presenter turned author Fern Britton, 63, has shared some advice she was given by her former ITV co-star Eamonn Holmes, 61, after having a chat with him over the phone this evening. The star, who split from her husband of 20 years Phil Vickery, 59, in 2020, was instructed by Eamonn to “put some lipstick on and do her hair”, as he suggested a new career move to keep her busy in lockdown.
Fern took to Twitter to speak out on her conversation with Eamonn, who told her she should try reading a chapter of one of her popular series books in a video for fans.
However, the This Morning host said the mum-of-four may need a bit of help with her appearance on camera beforehand.
She wrote in view of her 79,000 followers: I was having a chat with the lively @EamonnHolmes today and he suggested that I could perhaps read a chapter or do a night of one of my books on social media.
“By the fire with a cuppa.”

Alongside a laughing face emoji, Fern went on to detail Eamonn’s hair and make-up advice for the book reading session.
The best-selling author added: “‘Put your lippy on and do your hair. Get the kids to light you well’, he said.”
Asking her followers for their opinion on Eamonn’s idea, she concluded: “What say you?”
Fans quickly took to the comments section to share their thoughts.
One person said: “Love how @EamonnHolmes has suggested you do your hair! We think you’re great as you are and lippie is not required!”
Another added: “Get him to read a chapter as long as he puts his lippy on, does his hair and gets his son to do his make up. Pending that, Fern wear what you’re comfy in, sans make up but with a large glass of vino.”
A third fan commented: “Come back to This Morning and bring Eamonn with you. Ruth too.”
A fourth replied: “Oooh yeah that would be a lovely bedtime storytime. I love an audiobook and I always think they are so much better when the story is told by the person who wrote it. I’d enjoy that.”

A fifth said: “The man’s a genius, and I absolutely agree with him!! Please do it, Fern?!”
Fern’s discussion about her chat with Eamonn comes after she recently opened up about her emotions during lockdown while she embarked on a 5K walk in the rain.
The author quizzed in a video: “Are you having an up day or a down day, or upside down all the way through?
“Sometimes up, sometimes down, this morning I must admit I had a bit of a down when I looked in the mirror!”
Fern candidly spoke to fans just days after her ex Phil, who is a chef on This Morning, shared an insight into his life after their separation.
When quizzed on how he is doing following their recent split, Phil confirmed in a new interview with Entertainment Daily: “[I’m] completely happy. The kids are all good.”
The television stars share daughter Winnie, 17, together, while Fern also has twins Harry and Jack, and daughter Grace, with her ex Clive Jones.
Phil went on to admit he tries to remain positive in spite of any challenges he faces in his personal life.
“Life… You’ve got to be positive and I’m always a positive person,” he added.
