Along with a picture lying in a hospital bed, Janey posted a message to her 234,000 followers earlier today.

She penned: “Sorry but my last weekend of the tour can’t go ahead in Edinburgh and Musselburgh as I am in hospital with ovarian cancer – look after eachother #MentalHealthMatters.”

Lorraine hastily replied: “Oh Janey. I hope you are OK.

“Please take care of yourself xxx.”

To which, Janey responded: “Thanks pal, can’t believe I spent a whole tour moaning about a bloated tummy and it was ovarian cancer!

“The audiences have lifted me up and the love has been helpful x.”

Fans of the star took to Lorraine’s Twitter comments to share their condolences.

Margo Jenkins said: “So sorry to hear this. Take care.

Mark Allen commented: “Man. I can’t believe it.

“All the very best Janey x.”

Janey also posted a video message to tell her fans exactly what has happened.

In this, she said since her shock diagnosis she has done “nothing but cry”.

She said: “Unfortunately, I was doing the tour when I unbeknownst to me had ovarian cancer.

“I just got checked out yesterday and that’s what I’m now in this very beautiful but very stormy corner room hospital in Glasgow.

“But I want to thank everybody for their support and their help in coming out and sharing so much love with me.”

Janey also shared her symptoms of the cancer, such as feeling full before eating and having little energy.

As she did not feel completely right she felt it was the best thing to do to get herself checked out.

Janey began her stand-up career back in 1994 and she has appeared in multiple television shows.

Some of her credits include Have I Got News for You and Traces, as well as a role in the film Wild Rose.
