Kris Jenner is backing up daughter Kylie Jenner‘s “self-made” billionaire title.
Earlier this year, Forbes named 21-year-old Kylie the youngest self-made billionaire, which drew blowback because of her family’s wealth and fame. Kylie since has come forward and admitted she had “a lot of help” and a huge social media presence, but her mom maintains Kylie is entirely self-made.
“I think she’s self-made,” the momager, 63, said during a new sit-down interview with “CBS Sunday Morning.”
“I mean, listen, my girls, you can say that certain things have been handed to them, but it takes a lot of work to do what they’re doing,” she added, noting that even though Kylie’s last name contributed to her success, “the money she’s made is her own.”
Kris explained that Kylie launched her cosmetics empire with “her own savings” and said her hard work and determination are what turned it into the multimillion-dollar company it is today.
“She put her own blood, sweat and tears into it. It was her idea. It was amazing what she did,” Jenner said. “She showed the rest of us how to do it.”
Kylie Cosmetics isn’t the sole factor in Kylie’s estimated worth. She also receives her “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” paycheck, as well as money from paid endorsements for waist trainers, appetite-suppressing teas, her Adidas partnership and her Kendall + Kylie clothing and shoe line.
