Martin Roberts, 56, has fronted Homes Under The Hammer for 18 years and by now, knows all the tricks behind the show. And after a viewer came at him with a query about a new series, the property expert spilt the secrets. During his Ask Martin Monday Q&A session on Twitter, he was once again inundated with questions about his interests and of course, properties.

It’s our cunning way of ensuring you have to watch every single show!

One fan in particular wondered why they had missed some when they thought they were up to date with all the episodes, but Martin had all the answers.

The viewer penned: “I’m pretty sure I’m all caught up on HUTH although I find the odd one I’ve missed.

“When will a new series be out there and how many do you film per series.”

Replying with a detailed response, the 56-year-old wrote back: “The new series gets intertwined with the old series, so there’s never really a start of a new series, just more recent filming that appears on TV.”

He cheekily added: “It’s our cunning way of ensuring you have to watch every single show!”

But regardless of how the BBC air the program, either way fans still adore it, with one saying: “Hey who cares, I [love] HUTH no matter what they show repeat or not.”

Someone else probed the presenter on his DIY skills, writing: “Are you actually a dab hand at DIY as this photo of you posing on a roof suggests or do you normally call the buildings in? #askmartinmonday.”

“Yes, I do DIY without a doubt and I actually love it!” Martin replied eagerly, although he was almost beat by none other than a toilet last week.

In a rather dramatic video posted to his Twitter account, the Homes Under The Hammer host raged at the porcelain lavatory as he tried to figure out how to fix it.

Captioning the video: “I’m having toilet trouble and need to vent some steam…” Martin apologised for the upcoming rant.

“I apologise in advance because this is probably the most boring video you’ve seen all day,” he told his followers.

“But I have to share my pain!”

He explained what he was trying to do, showing viewers the situation inside the back of the toilet.

“This is a vaguely modernised one and when you push this plastic, the toilet flushes,” he said, demonstrating as he went.

But he soon revealed what had left him puzzled.

Holding the outer flush, he looked totally baffled as he flung his head back.

Martin screeched: “There are so many variables it’s unbelievable!”

“You can set the height of this, you can set the height of that, the thing I’ve just discovered comes apart… and there’s another set of adjustments over here!”

He moaned: “Why are there so many adjustments?!”

The presenter paused as he took a few deep breaths: “And breathe…” he sighed before concluding his video.

Homes Under The Hammer airs weekdays at 10am on BBC One.
