Nashville Flipped reality star Troy Shafer dead at 38

American reality star Troy Shafer has reportedly died aged 38.

The construction worker best known for his DIY network series Nashville Flipped, which saw him renovate period houses in Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on April 28.

According to TMZ who claim to have spoken to Troy's brother Tim, the family have been left in total shock as Troy didn't have any known medical conditions.

The site also adds that the coroner's office in Eerie, Pennsylvania, where Troy was from, 'did not carry out an autopsy and that they were awaiting a toxicology report'.

The DIY expert, who was laid to rest in a private burial, leaves behind his wife Becky.

The TV star who attended Penn State University, moved to Nashville ten years ago where he hoped to kickstart a career in singing.

However when that didn't go according to plan he came up with Nashville Flipped – pitching the home renovation project to TV execs who snapped it up.

The series first launched in 2016 and since then Troy and his team – who specialise in homes from the 1800s and 1900s – have restored and flipped dozens of properties.
