Rihanna skipped the 2019 Met Gala on Monday but took to social media to declare Met Gala co-chair Anna Wintour as the best dressed.
“Best dressed,” Rihanna wrote on Instagram and Twitter alongside a photo of Wintour. Wintour wore a custom pink feathered Chanel gown, which was designed by close friend and late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld before he died.
“Karl made (it) for me, and Virginie finished,” the Vogue editor-in-chief told reporters. Virginie Viard succeeded Lagerfeld as the Chanel creative director.
Rihanna was one of the most missed faces at the Met Gala 2019, and fans voiced their disappointment on social media of missing the iconic star on the red carpet.
Rihanna co-chaired the Met Gala in 2018 and attended the event for six consecutive years.
The 2019 event was co-chaired by Wintour, Harry Styles, Lady Gaga, Serena Williams and Alessandro Michele.
