Susanna Reid, 50, bid farewell to her former Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan, 56, on Wednesday, as he returned to the ITV studios to clear his dressing room after he dramatically stepped down from his post two weeks ago. Reflecting on their five years together at the helm of the flagship morning programme, Susanna revealed the key qualities she favoured most and that without them, being on-air together just wouldn’t have worked out.
Piers Morgan has also been supportive and generous with advice. It wouldn’t have worked otherwise
Piers has long been considered like Marmite – you either love him or you hate him, but he cares for neither.
He just likes to get the job done.
And while many are still reeling from his departure from the show, some commended his 50-year-old co-host for being able to put up with his controversial views and loud mouth for so long.
But when it came to addressing this, Susanna pointed out exactly why they got on so well.
One Twitter fan wrote to the presenter: “You deserve a medal for putting up with @piersmorgan for 5 yrs.
“@GMB just isn’t the same without him.”
Susanna was quick to reply, looking back at their time together.
“There are many occasions when we haven’t agreed,” she penned.
“But @piersmorgan has also been supportive and generous with advice.”
She added: “It wouldn’t have worked otherwise.”
As Piers left the building for one final time, he left a little surprise for his co-star.
His life-size cardboard cut-out of Susanna remained in his dressing room, as he believed it’d be a little “creepy” to take it home with him.

In view of his 1.6 million Instagram followers, he wrote: “Goodbye, Good Morning Britain!
“(I think I’ll leave the cardboard cut-out, would be a bit creepy to take that home…)”
Many of his fans flocked to his post to share their thoughts.
One user wrote: “Your definitely missed in the morning your honesty was refreshing!!”(sic)
A second commented: “Jeez.. how much gear?!”
A third said: “Not the same without you!”
Piers left the show earlier this month after refusing to apologise for comments he made about Meghan Markle.
The controversial presenter said he didn’t believe a word she said after she discussed her life in the Royal Family with Oprah Winfrey including feeling suicidal, which sparked over 51,000 Ofcom complaints.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
