The pop singers of America want you to turn out and VOTE!
Both Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift shared messages with their followers in the past day, encouraging fans to take their civic duty seriously and participate in the election.
This morning, a casually-dressed Gomez took to her Instagram Story to share her views. “I know that many of you have voted, and I’m so proud, and I’m so happy that you did, but there [are] plenty of other people who haven’t, and I think they don’t plan to,” she began. "Please vote in person at this point if you can, especially in my home town like Texas, and Pennsylvania, and Florida. Your voice matters so much. People think that it doesn’t matter but other elections have been this close before, so you have to understand that your voice does matter, and it’s so important and I’m just so thankful that you guys are listening, and I hope that you can get out there and do everything that you can. Please, please vote in person."
Last week, Gomez revealed that this is the first election she’s ever voted in. "When I got my ballot, I got really excited, like feeling part of it," she said during an Instagram Live. "We want people to use their voice."
Swift, too, took to her Instagram Story with a solemn plea.
"Hey. So we are all very stressed out about this election, rightfully so. I feel you," she began. “But allow me to be the 1 millionth person to remind you that tomorrow is your last chance to make your voice heard and to make your vote count, so if you haven't voted yet, please do. Stay safe, wear a mask, take care of yourselves. I love you very much. Happy voting.”
Swift has been urging fans to get out the vote and speaking out against Donald Trump for months now. She even lent one of her songs to a Biden campaign ad.
