Kate, Princess of Wales wore a pair of Manolo Blahnik ‘Hangisi’ heels for an official portrait with Prince William earlier this year. But Kate is not the only royal who is a fan of the iconic buckled pumps, as Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Princess Sofia of Sweden have also been pictured wearing the fancy footwear.

In June 2022, Kate and Prince William visited Cambridgeshire to see a portrait of themselves painted by Jamie Coreth.

Kate dazzled in the classic painting wearing a metallic green dress by a royal-favourite brand, The Vampire’s Wife.

A fan of colour-blocking her outfits, Kate wore matching ‘Hangisi’ green satin pumps – one of Blahnik’s celebrity favourite styles.

Often compared to Kate for her solid fashion sense, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark was recently pictured in Vietnam wearing a pair of Manolo Blahnik ‘Hangisi’ Satin Pumps in yellow.

Mary was also pictured wearing her heels earlier this year for a meeting with the Dutch King and Queen in The Hague.

Princess Sofia of Sweden also wore the shoes in fuschia pink earlier this year for an event celebrating democracy in Stockholm.

Blahnik’s ‘Hangisi’ pumps have arguably become more recognisable in recent years due to several pop culture references.

Most notably, Manolo Blahnik featured heavily in the ‘Sex and the City’ movie, in which lead character Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) received a blue Hangisi pump instead of an engagement ring from the character Mr Big.

The film’s success solidified Blahnik’s creation as a fashion cult classic.

While playing Patrizia Reggiani in the 2021 film ‘House of Gucci’, actress and singer Lady Gaga was also spotted wearing the heels in white for her on-set wedding.

The satin shoes currently sell for £875 on the Manolo Blahnik website.

In blue, the shoe’s description reads: “Blue satin almond toe pumps featuring a square crystal buckle encased in a gunmetal frame. Finished with a stiletto high heel.”

Another royal, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is also known to own several of the Blahnik brand’s iconic pumps.

For her visit to the United Nations in New York earlier this year, Meghan donned a pair of black suede pumps which she’s worn on several occasions.

She’s also been seen wearing a pair of black sling-back heels from the brand while visiting Morocco with Prince Harry.

Other high-end designer shoe brands to have caught the attention of royals include Jimmy Choo and Valentino, with Kate and Princess Eugenie pictured wearing their designs over the years.

Meghan is also a fan of Aquazzura, donning a pair of nude heels for her engagement photos with Prince Harry in 2017.

Meghan also wore a pair of white Aquazzura heels for her wedding at St George’s Chapel in 2018.

For more casual footwear, Kate and Meghan tend to turn to the eco-friendly company Veja for their trainers.

Kate has also been pictured wearing Superga trainers, a firm favourite of the late Princess Diana.
