Savvy mum shows what she does with old Christmas cards to save chucking them and it saves money too

THE FESTIVE period comes with piles of food, gifts…and dozens of Christmas cards that you don't really want to just throw away.

If you're like us and have stocks of festive greeting cards hidden in boxes and the idea of simply chucking them in the bin sounds too harsh, a savvy mum has figured out what to do with them.

''Tell me I’m not the only one who doesn’t know what to do with unsolicited holiday cards?'' wrote the sustainability expert Shelbi, from Austin, Texas.

''Don't throw away them just yet!''

According to the digital creator, ''this is the perfect way to upcycle them and give them a second life''.

For this, Shelbi demonstrated, you will simply need to find all the cards that have a colourful design – Christmas tree, baubles, snowflakes and so on – and cut it out.

Make sure you then also remove whatever writing's on there from the previous gifter and add your own To & From custom message.

These small cutouts are the perfect addition to any gifts – and it's also the perfect way to reduce your carbon footprint and make less waste.
