The run up to Christmas is a time to be smart with your money, what with all the extra expenditure when it comes to presents, food and decorations. Festive fun doesn’t come cheap.
However, there is actually a way to substantially save when it comes to food items at Aldi, which will no doubt take the strain off the season.
Although the supermarket is partial to many a bargain, shoppers have recently found that the chain in fact has a “secret bargain hour,” Birmingham Live has reported.

During this time, for 60 whole minutes, the German company reduces its food by 50 per cent which sounds great to us!
But when is this magical time slot? Well, you might guess and think that it took place at the end of the day, but actually this is not the case.
Aldi has reduced prices right at the start of the day, at 7am across many of its stores.
To paraphrase the old adage, the early bird catches the half price worm.
However, this is not necessarily true of every single branch so it is best to contact your local store to work out when is best to get your bargain-hungry hands on some reduced food.

In regards to the price reduction hour a spokesman from Aldi revealed: “All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommended sales price before stores pen on their best before or use by dates.”
But aside from food bargains the store also offers great savings in terms homeware. Recently Aldi released a gorgeous coffee table which had bargain-hunters racing to the shop.
The circular table features a wooden and glass top with golden legs, perfect as the centrepiece for any living room.
There’s enough space on the wooden panel to keep your newspapers and magazines, or perhaps even a big hardback book.
The table comes in at an affordable £64.99 with, according to Metro, a very similar table being found at luxury furniture shop West Elm at £399.
The range of furniture is set to launch at Aldi as part of their latest collection on November 15 and will also be available online.
