Five rare 50p coins in circulation worth fortune – from Kew Gardens to Judo

Rare coins are popular among many Brits.

Owning the right one can be worth a lot of money so it's important to keep an eye on your change.

Now Royal Mint revealed the rarest 50p coins in circulation with one worth a staggering £650.

It listed the official mintage and when the rare 50p coins were made.

And it's worth noting there are more than 200million 50p coins circulating in the UK.

They have many different designs, such as Football and Judo, with Kew Gardens as the most sought-after coin.

Here are five rare coins worth keeping an eye on…

Triathlon – worth £16

The Triathlon 50p was first introduced in 2011 with around 1,653,500 in total.

Royal Mint circulated unique 50ps depicting the sport featuring in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

One of the highest bids found on eBay for the 50p is £16.

Judo – worth £18

The Judo coin was first minted in 2011 ahead of the 2012 Olympics.

Around 1,161,500 were made after David Cornell's design won a competition.

One of the highest bids on eBay is around £18.

Wrestling – worth £14.50

The Wrestling coin was designed by graphic designer Roderick Enriquez.

It has been sold on eBay for just under £15.

Football – worth £20

The Football coin had over 1,125,500 entering circulation when it was made for the 2012 Olympics.

But this one is quite rare which includes an explanation of the offside rule.

Earlier this year, one sold for £20 on eBay.

Kew Gardens – worth £650

And of course, there's the Kew Gardens 50p coin which has around 210,000 in circulation.

The 50p coin is considered to be the rarest of them all with one flogging for around £650 online.

It was created by Christopher Le Brun RA as it features the Chinese Pagoda with a leafy chamber.
