Man stabbed to death in Tesco car park with murder investigation launched

A man was stabbed to death in an underground Tesco car park at lunchtime today.

Thames Valley Police were called to the supermarket at 12.32pm to reports of a stabbing.

A man was found critically injured. He was rushed to hospital but could not be saved and a murder investigation has been launched.

His next of kin are yet to be informed, the force said in a statement this afternoon.  No arrests have been made.

Head of the force’s Major Crime Unit, Detective Superintendent Ian Hunter said: “This is a shocking incident in which a man has lost his life.

"Our task now is to find out what happened and bring the offender or offenders to justice.

“The victim’s next of kin are yet to be informed, so I would urge the media and the public not to speculate on the victim's identity until his next of kin has been informed and he has been formally identified."

Det sup Hunter appealed for the help of the public.

He added: “There is a scenewatch in place, with the underground car park at Tesco currently closed. We would ask people to avoid the area at this time while we carry out vital enquiries.

“The Major Crime Unit is being supported by our colleagues in the Slough local policing area. If you have any questions or concerns then please speak to an officer.”
