Nick Carter and wife Lauren Carter have another baby on the way — which came as a total shock to the couple.

The Carters — who are the parents of son Odin, 4, and daughter Saoirse, 15 months — told People they’ve gone through “multiple miscarriages” over the years and never expected to naturally conceive again.

“I thought I had a tumor because there was just no way that I could be pregnant, from just my medical history and the things that I did to ensure that I just had my two children,” Lauren told People of finding out she’s expecting, adding: “Even Nick, like a couple of weeks prior to that, was talking about possibly getting a surrogate, possibly having a third child. It was just something we were talking about.”

Lauren, 37, said she didn’t realize she was pregnant until she went to her doctor at five-and-a-half-months along.

“I didn’t have any symptoms, I didn’t have anything indicating that I was pregnant,” she said. “One day I just, I felt something move in my body and I said, ‘Nick, there’s something not right. I think I need to go to the doctor. Something’s wrong with me.’ I was not supposed to be able to have any more children, so I never assumed that I was pregnant.”

She is due in April.

The Backstreet Boy, 40, and the actress have been quarantining with their family at their Las Vegas home amid the coronavirus pandemic, with Nick saying: “For us, it’s all about just creating an environment for our children that is peaceful,.”

The couple wed in 2014.
