She may be only 18 years old, but TikTok star Avani Gregg’s bold beauty looks have already amassed her over 35 million followers on the platform.
“I started out doing artwork on paper, and was like, ‘You know what? I’m gonna move this over to makeup.’ So I started using my eyeshadow as face paint and just … filmed it,” Gregg recently told Page Six Style at an event celebrating her new Skechers collaboration.
The Indiana native launched into social media stardom in 2019, thanks to a viral transformation clip featuring wildly intricate clown makeup that took upwards of six hours to create.
Since then, she’s gone on to post plenty more beauty looks of both the spooky and stunning variety — and branched out into fashion content, as she’s always been passionate about personal style.
“Throughout high school, I didn’t repeat an outfit a single day, even to this day,” Gregg said.
And while she might be dating fellow TikToker Anthony Reeves, she dresses purely for herself, telling us, “I will go and put on whatever I like, and go, ‘Well, if I like it, why does it matter?’”
Gregg is particularly inspired by Y2K fashion — fitting, as she was born in 2002 — and gravitates toward Ed Hardy tattoo prints, crop tops and low-rise jeans. So her latest partnership with Skechers, one of the standout shoe brands of the 2000s, makes sense.
The social media phenom stars in the new campaign for the Skechers Uno sneaker, pairing the brightly colored kicks with everything from a fuchsia tulle frock and chunky silver chains to her signature neon eyeliner and bubble braids.
“I just knew it was the perfect opportunity to show that I can do something with shoes as well. I’ve always been a fan of Skechers,” Gregg said.
Priced at $80, the Uno comes in neutral hues like black, white and beige, as well as bold shades like bright blue, cherry red and hot pink.
“Right when they sent me the original concept, I knew what I wanted to do with the colorways,” she shared. “I thought about what would catch people my age’s attention – everyone’s into the Y2K-type deal. In the end, I had eight different mood board pages!”
As for fans looking to find their own personal style? Gregg has one piece of advice: “Whatever you wanna wear, try it on. The worst that can happen is you don’t like it, and that’s why clothes aren’t attached to our bodies.”
