The X Factor has produced some incredible talent over the years, and most viewers will remember one particularly gifted singer who took part in the 2011 series – Amelia Lily.
She was only 16 at the time of the show – where she ultimately placed third – but made a huge impact with the strength of her voice and her bold beauty look.

Over the last decade, Amelia has naturally adapted her look with age. The now 26-year-old has ditched her signature bleach blonde lengths and instead opted for mid-length looks in pastel shades, most recently a fun peachy hue.
Amelia has also considerably changed her make-up style and seems to have gone for a less liner-heavy look. Back in 2011, the star became known for her lashings of black eyeliner, which was a stark contrast to the blonde hair.
Her change in make-up may be prompted by the fact that Amelia is now a fully qualified make-up artist. She posts glamorous snaps of herself and clients on her Make-up by Amelia Instagram page, which she started last summer.
But Amelia hasn’t exactly been shying away from the spotlight since The X Factor. She joined the cast of Geordie Shore in 2020, following in the footsteps of the likes of Charlotte Crosby and Sophie Kasaei.

Fans may also remember she competed in the twentieth series of Celebrity Big Brother, and lasted in the house until day 25 – just being pipped to the finish line by former Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding.
Now though, Amelia spends a lot of her time posting about battles with type one diabetes. She also treats her 150k Instagram followers to the occasional make-up and hair tutorial.
One of her more recent hair how-tos tackles the topic of curling short hair. In the short video, Amelia uses a Batiste Dry Shampoo, £2.99 here, to refresh her hair before styling. She then shows her technique for creating a wave using ghd’s Original Hair IV Straighteners, £109 here.

Fans seemed delighted with the inside look at her haircare routine, with one saying, “People who can curl with hair straighteners are wizards!!!”
Another fan asked how she maintains the condition of her hair despite being a user of bleach.
“If I get a bit of breakage it’s only around my face, but they tend to grow back super quick,” she says. “Olaplex [£26 here] saves my hair and I use the gold L’Oréal Elvive Hair Mask [£5.99 here] every time I wash my hair.”
