Woman shares how to get rid of creases in bed sheets using vodka

A savvy cleaning expert has revealed an unusual trick for getting wrinkles out of your sheets – using your favourite tipple.

Home stylist Liz Amazya shared a video on Instagram showing how she uses vodka to remove creases from her bedding. And if you hate ironing your sheets – this will be music to your ears.

In a spray bottle, Liz combines one cup of water, half a cup of vinegar, a few drops of essential oils and the key ingredient – two tablespoons of vodka.

After making the bed, she sprays her homemade concoction over the sheets, and with that, the wrinkles start to disappear – just like magic.

Martin Seeley, the CEO of MattressNextDay says the novel cleaning hack is actually worth trying: ‘The video featuring a savvy home stylist using vodka to remove the creases in her bedsheets is, in fact, legitimate.

‘Due to its high alcohol content, vodka is known to be a natural cleaner, which when left to evaporate into the fabric, can eliminate any lingering odours. This, therefore, makes it an ideal addition to a homemade spray for spritzing your bed sheets in-between washes.’

But Martin admits that using vodka isn’t the only way to achieve this smooth finish.

‘It’s not entirely essential for removing the creases in your sheets,’ he adds. ‘Instead, you could spray watered down fabric conditioner onto your sheets, whilst they’re on the bed, and the creases will still disappear. Naturally, this is a cheaper alternative to using vodka, too.’

People in the comments on Instagram are loving this clever trick.

‘Vodka – who would have thought!!!’ said one woman.

‘Anything to avoid the iron! This is perfect,’ added another.

While someone else called the tip a ‘game changer’.

‘Alternatively, if you’d prefer to stick to the traditional method of ironing your sheets, a top tip is to iron them whilst they are still slightly damp,’ suggests Martin.

‘We also recommend that you fold your linens in half, vertically, then iron them that way – as your sheets could be thin enough to be ironed on both sides with one movement.’
