EVERTON have expressed an interest in signing Liverpool target Nicolas Pepe.

The 24-year-old netted a staggering 22 goals and assisted a further 11 as Lille finished second to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1.

Marco Silva wants a left-footed attacker who can play on the right, and Pepe is now one of the candidates alongside Ajax's David Neres, according to the Telegraph.

The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international would cost a club record £60million fee and it remains to be seen whether the Toffees will bid that high.

SAM ALLARDYCE has revealed he snubbed the chance to speak to Newcastle – because you should never “go back”.

Big Sam’s agent Mark Curtis was sounded out about an amazing return to St James' Park by Toon managing director Lee Charnley last week.

But out-of-work Allardyce – who had an ill-fated eight-month spell at St James’ Park in 2008-09 – admitted he did not want to replace the revered Rafa Benitez.

The 64-year-old told talkSport he was 'flattered' to be asked but swiftly rejected the opportunity.

Speaking to Alan Brazil's Sports Breakfast he said: “They had a chat with my agent and as much as I respect Newcastle, Newcastle fans and Mike Ashley – it wasn’t for me.

“I politely said ‘no’ and moved on.

“That thing was in my mind – don’t go back.

“Maybe if it was the first time around, I’d have maybe jumped at it – but not now.

“I appreciated the offer. I was extremely surprised. I was very flattered that I was considered but it was about not going back.”

ARSENAL are looking to hijack Everton’s £31.5million move for Barcelona winger Malcom.

The Merseysiders are confident of clinching a deal for the Brazilian in the next few days.

But Arsenal boss Unai Emery has identified the player as an alternative to top target Wilfried Zaha.

The Gunners are trying to persuade Malcom to delay a move to Goodison while they attempt to negotiate with Barca.

Emery has all but given up on landing Zaha after his £40m bid — which is half what Crystal Palace want — was rejected.

Arsenal will struggle to match Everton’s offer for Malcom, 22, so will try to persuade Barcelona to accept staggered payments.

But the Spanish champions want to raise quick cash to fund moves for Neymar and Antoine Griezmann.
