Conor McGregor branded an 'out of control' 'idiot' by Khabib's coach after deleted tweet about rival's late father

CONOR MCGREGOR has been branded an 'out of control' 'idiot' following his mocking of the death of Khabib Nurmagomedov's father, Abdulmanap.

The Irishman mocked the passing of the legendary Dagestani coach – who died last year of Covid-19 complications -by tweeting: “Covid is good and father is evil?"

McGregor's hastily-deleted tweet caused outrage in the MMA world and saw him receive widespread condemnation.

And Nurmagomedov's head coach Javier Mendez has joined in with the criticism of the Irishman.

During an appearance on The Real Quick with Mike Swick podcast, the AKA chief said of McGregor: “Who should like him for a comment like that?

“How many people do you know, lost their family, lost their business, lost everything because of COVID, and you make fun of it?

"You say Covid good, father evil? Are you kidding me?

“So you’re saying to all those poor people that lost their family, lost their business, people that committed suicide over this tragedy that’s happened to the whole world, and you think you’re making a mockery of it by trying attack someone’s father by using that?

"You’re an idiot. You are an idiot. … It’s just another knife to dig in people’s hearts.

"He’s an idiot. He’s flat out an idiot and he’s out of control. I’m sorry.

“And this has nothing to do with Khabib’s father. This has nothing to do with those comments on COVID.

"We already know what he thinks on Khabib. That’s fine.

He’s flat out an idiot and he’s out of control

"But you make a comment like that, all the money in the world isn’t going to allow you to get away with some of the stupid things you say.”

The recently-retired Nurmagomedov believes McGregor's latest attempt to get under his skin is a reflection of his true character.

The Russian told Mike Tyson: "When someone is not with us – he is not even alive – this shows what you have inside.

"This shows how dirty you are.

"When you one of the best in the world and you come and you punch someone who is like 70 years old, like an old man (in a pub), this shows your heart.

"This shows who you are inside, how dirty you are.

"When you have parents and you have kids, how can you show yourself like this?

"I don’t understand why his close people don’t go, ‘Hey, what’s going on?’"

McGregor, 33, is currently recovering from the broken leg he suffered in his UFC 264 trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier last month.

The former two-division champion is expected to be on the sidelines for the next year but will return to full training in April.
