CONOR McGREGOR made a crass joke about joining the IRA after being compared to Seth Rogen.
The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, 31, has yet to announce when he will make his return to the Octagon.
But he has remained active on social media since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov last year.
The Irishman posted a picture of himself with a beard and long hair, while wearing glasses, on Instagram on Sunday.
And now, in a bizarre shout-out to movie star Seth Rogen, he has referenced the IRA after a fan claimed the pair looked similar.
Posting a twin-up of himself alongside the actor, McGregor appeared to jokingly suggest a plot line for a sequel to Rogen's 2007 film Superbad.
He said: "You bad ass mother f***er Seth can't wait for Superbad 2. McGregor and McLovin join the IRA."
Hit comedy Superbad told the story of three high school students Seth, Evan and Fogell, the latter of whom referred to himself as McLovin.
The trio try to obtain alcohol for a party on a night that leads to McLovin spending time with rogue cops, played by Rogen and Bill Hader.
Rogen has yet to respond to McGregor's shout-out on Instagram or on Twitter.
Meanwhile, we told you how McGregor's call for a rematch with current UFC lightweight champion Khabib backfired on him.
He tweeted a GIF of himself being dropped by the Russian and said: "F*** the 8 count let's dance baby."
But MMA fans trolled the Irishman afterwards as they questioned why he used that particular clip.
The UFC returns this Saturday with a card featuring former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in a fight against Michelle Waterson.
It will be shown live on BT Sport 2 with coverage starting at 11pm.
