The Yankees are still piecing together the details of a car accident in the Dominican Republic that is connected to suspended pitcher Domingo German.
Manager Aaron Boone did say that German was not hurt.
The Yankees reportedly spoke to German’s agent, who told them the righty rushed to help a friend whose vehicle had overturned. Two people were injured, including German’s girlfriend, who suffered a broken arm, according to DR outlet El Nuevo Diario.
“I know Domingo’s fine,” Boone told reporters before the Yankees spring game Friday against the Braves. “He’s OK. And that is my understanding that he wasn’t (in the crash), but we don’t have all the information yet but he wasn’t hurt.”
German is working out on his own in the Dominican while his teammates train in Florida as he continues to serve out an 81-game suspension for domestic violence. He has 63 games remaining this season and is eligible to return to the team in June.
