MUSSELBURGH

1.50

MARSHAL DAN was an impressive winner over course and distance on his last visit in October. The ground was softer then but he’s gone well on a decent surface too. This trip is ideal and he has scored in a higher grade than this.

Three Saints Bay won the last running of this race two years ago and is 6lb lower in the weights today. He chased home the tip last time and looks a big price to hit the frame.

Stone Solider has been in cracking form on the all-weather and had five lengths in hand at Southwell latest. It’s been a while since his last turf win but he’s fit and firing.

2.25

FOREST FALCON didn’t have a lot to beat at Yarmouth last time but he got the job done in style by nine lengths. He clocked a good time in the process and hasn’t been clobbered for this handicap debut. There should be a lot more to come.

Mark Johnston has another chance with Naamoos who ran better than sixth suggests in a Listed contest last time. The ground may have been too slow for him and he went well for a long way.

Colonel Faulkner went over to France to shed his maiden tag at Deauville before Christmas and shapes as though this slightly longer distance will help.

JABBAROCKIE starts the season on a fair mark despite running well in some good contests last year. He won easily the last time he ran here and held his own in hot company at York and Donny in 2020. He has a handy draw and goes well fresh.

Canny Tim Easterby has a couple of chances with Copper Knight tumbling down the weights even before Ella McCain takes off 5lb. He’s not won for almost two years but is Listed class at best.

Stablemate Count D’Orsay took a nice prize at Haydock in September and can’t be dismissed despite a 9lb rise since then.

3.35

INDIANAPOLIS makes his debut for Ian Williams and his best form would give him every chance. He has slipped below his last winning mark and kept good company last season. He went close a couple of times and sees out this trip well.

Themaxwecan signed off last term with a solid second at Newmarket over 2m2f. He was a good fourth at Royal Ascot over this trip and has place claims.

Mark Johnston also has a shout with Trumpet Man. He won three on the spin last autumn and has plenty of stamina.

HAYDOCK

2.05

VISION DU PUY improved to win at Stratford last time and looks capable of better again. She likes this trip and Team Skelton is in flying form.

Xcitations deserves this hike in class after an impressive victory at Fakenham. He’s been upped 10lb for that so needs more but could deliver.

Shantou Express is consistent and went close at Wetherby with the third a long way back. He’s gone up the weights again but has scope for more. The ground may be a bit quick for Chti Balko but he could have a say given how much he likes Haydock. He’s only 1lb above his last win.

2.40

DEBECE ran a cracker on debut for the Skeltons at Sandown, finishing second in ground that was too soft. He gets better conditions here and is handicapped to go close.

Crossley Tender never runs a bad race and was just edged out in the marathon Eider at Newcastle. This shorter trip suits too and he’ll be right there again.

Silva Eclipse jumped really well when scoring at Sedgefield and it’s early days over fences. He is likely to improve and figure again.

3.15

COLONIAL DREAMS caught the eye finishing well into third at Newbury last time. He saw out this trip well and has every chance from the same mark.

Small Present looks progressive and improved to score at Donny last month. Sue Smith’s horses are going well and he’s a threat.

Ashtown Lad has been running in Graded contests and should find this easier. A wind op could help too.

Regarding Ruth had lots in hand when scoring at Newbury when relishing this distance. She’s up 8lb so needs more but looks a live contender.
