During the latest rerun of A Place in the Sun, Channel 4 presenter Jasmine Harman was on a mission to find Jo and Neil their dream holiday home in Lecce, Italy. The couple told the property expert they were wanting to relocate from Devon and start a new life in southern Italy. With a budget of £200,000, the pair were hoping to find a villa with plenty of land and a swimming pool. However, midway through the property search, viewers were left confused by one of Jasmine’s five property choices. One fan even likened the Italian villa to a “public toilet”.
The first property Jasmine took the couple to was a two-bedroom villa that came with two acres of land.
The pair seemed to love the property as they stood outside, although Jasmine explained it was priced way above their budget at £225,000.
“I like the wood burner and I like the floor,” Jo pointed out as they walked into the lounge.
The holiday home inside was smaller than the couple would have liked, although, they did fall in love with the amount of outdoor space.
However, when it came to making a decision, Jo and Neil said they would have liked something that was better value for money.
Jasmine also failed to impress the house hunters with the second property she took them to.
The villa came with three bedrooms and just under two acres of land.
Although, despite admitting the holiday home was a contender, the duo still didn’t seem convinced.
The third holiday home was a villa that came with plenty of outdoor space and a swimming pool.
Before they had even stepped foot inside, Jasmine broke the news that it was priced way above their budget at £338,000.
Although, she later explained the current owners were willing to lower the asking price by £40,000.
The couple seemed to be blown away by the property before they had looked around inside.
“It’s stunning,” Neil commented after the viewing while Jo said: “It’s so luxurious, isn’t it?
“It feels like more than we could have imagined.”
Despite falling in love with the holiday home, some viewers were left baffled by the choice of property.
Taking to social media to air their thoughts, Andrew commented: “Looks like an air raid shelter #aplaceinthesun.” (sic)
Terry wrote: “This one hasn’t got any better on a 2nd viewing. It still looks like a public toilet from the outside.” (sic)
While Finbar simply tweeted: “It’s horrible #aplaceinthesun.”
Despite loving the third property, the fifth property seemed to top it completely as the duo decided to put in an offer.
The holiday home was priced above their budget at £210,000, but Jo and Neil decided to offer £185,000.
The current owner rejected the couple’s initial offer but finally accepted their offer of £191,000.
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
