During Wednesday’s The One Show, BBC hosts Alex Jones and Amol Rajan spoke with Tom, AJ and Robert about why they chose to take part in Strictly Come Dancing. More celebrities are expected to be announced in the coming days, but the bookmakers are already predicting who they think could win the 2021 series – and it doesn’t look good for AJ and Robert
Unfortunately for AJ and Robert, Ladbrokes has predicted that the McFly star has a better chance at taking home the Glitterball Trophy this year.
They believe Tom will follow in his bandmate, Harry Judd’s footsteps by storming his way to the final – and winning the show.
Tom currently has odds of 4/1 of winning, AJ is tipped at 8/1 while Robert is the outsider with odds of 12/1.
Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “It’s all about Tom at the top of the Strictly betting.”

She continued: “Expectations will be high to follow in Harry’s footsteps to become king of the dancefloor, along with added pressure from wife Giovanna as the current queen of the castle.”

His bandmate Harry, who took part in Strictly in 2011 with professional dancer Aliona Vilani, also managed to win the show after beating Waterloo Road actress Chelsee Healey.
Speaking to Alex and Amol about the BBC series, Tom admitted: “I’m so pleased the news is out, it’s been so hard keeping it a secret.”
The pop star went on to discuss the advice Harry has been giving him since he was asked to go on the show.
“I can’t shut Harry up about Strictly,” he joked. “He’s been giving me loads of advice already.
“I remember when he won it, I watched it every week and it was partly watching him do that and seeing what an amazing experience he had.
“I think since then, I’ve had a secret little desire to do it.”

However, Tom stated that he approached Harry before signing up as it was “always his thing”.
“I wanted to make sure he was happy with me signing up, which I think he is,” he added.
Comedian Robert was the second celebrity announced to be taking part. He told Alex and Amol he was excited “but will a slight undertone of quivering terror”.
Alex asked him whether taking part in Strictly was a reason for his previous health problems, in which he replied: “I am mainly in it for the cossies [costumes].”
He continued: “But yes, I suppose so. I guess you get to a point in life where you think this is no time to be cool.
“And yes, these experiences don’t come along every five minutes, so it would be rude not to.”
Discussing her decision to try her hand at ballroom dancing, AJ began: “The secret is finally out. Surprise mum, surprise.
“I can’t tell you how much I love the show. This is a dream come true.”
“I’m not incredibly competitive,” she added. “I just want to do my best.”
Strictly Come Dancing is expected to air on BBC One later this year.
