Alison Hammond accused her co-star Dermot O’Leary of “touching himself” after he was seen adjusting his trousers live on air while the pair presented This Morning.

During Friday’s (May 13) instalment of the popular ITV daytime show, the 48-year-old welcomed viewers back to the show alongside his fellow brunette host as they discussed the latest headlines in the news.

One of the top topics on the show was the slew of superstitions the public regularly abide by on the national unlucky week day, Friday the 13th.

As the pair prepared to introduce Tom Swarbrick and Gyles Brandreth onto the show, the mum-of-one couldn’t help but notice the TV hunk fidgeting in his seat beside her.

Shocked at what he was up to, Alison couldn't help but ask what he was doing as he was seen pulling on his trousers on air.

She asked: "What's the matter Derms?" to which he replied: "I'm just adjusting my trousers – look at you pounding on me there! [Thinking] 'What's he up to?'"

The starlet explained: "Well you started touching yourself, I was like, 'What's going on here?'

Dermot reassured viewers: "Well, that's a bit too far, I was literally adjusting a trouser. I wouldn't call that 'touching myself' thank you."

Fans soon flooded to Twitter to comment on the hilarious interaction online as many believed the TV host struggled to take the passing comment as a joke.

One user penned: "Dermot can't take a joke at all. Touching your own leg it touching yourself so … #ThisMorning."

Another chuckled: "Dermot snapping at Alison [two cry laughing emojis] #ThisMorning."

A third penned: "Dermot is just weird today, stressed papers flying everywhere. Alison just professional just Alison [cry laughing emoji] #ThisMorning."
