BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent has appeared to take a cheeky wipe at her former co-star Dan Walker live on air.

The 51-year-old host was back on presenting duty on Monday (September 26) morning alongside Jon Kay.

They kicked off the show by discussing the latest headlines from across the globe.

Going through the morning's papers , Sally and Jon spotted a photograph of Helen Skelton and went on to discuss the first week of Strictly Come Dancing.

15 new couples took to the dancefloor for the first time on Saturday evening (September 24) to dance live for the nation.

Sally asked Jon: "Did you watch Strictly? Did you watch the launch?"

He replied: "I so a bit of it yes."

Sally continued: "It was so exciting. I heard the music and I thought 'Yeah, i'm ready for it now'.

"I had quite a lot of Strictly last year but i'm definitely ready for it."

Her comment refers to her former co-star Dan appearing on the BBC dancing show as a contestant last year.

Dan and his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova reached the quarter-finals in the 2021 series.

After his stint on the show, the 45-year-old decided to quit BBC Breakfast and now hosts 5 News on Channel 5.

Former BBC star Dan recently left his Twitter left his fans gobsmacked as he made an unfortunate typo while he shared a career update on Twitter.

The post discussed his excitement over his latest show alongside Michaela Strachan, titled Digging For Treasure, which searches for lost artefacts and valuable treasures lost over the centuries that launched on Channel 5 last week.

And it appears as though the show has been a huge hit with viewers so far, after the dad-of-three logged onto his account to boast about the show’s success when he made the hilarious typo.

He wrote: “Fantastic response for Dogging For Treasure last night and great figures!”

It seemed as though the TV presenter was completely oblivious that he had in fact typed “dogging” instead of “digging” online.
