Britain’s Tiger Kings: ITV viewers outraged as Ross Kemp grills big cat owners ‘Horrified’

During the first instalment of the ITV programme Britain’s Tiger Kings, Ross Kemp spoke with big cat owner Reece Oliver, who rescued two big lions and a puma from being euthanised and kept them in cages in his back garden in Nottingham. Just minutes into the ITV programme, angry viewers took to social media to express their disgust at the lions being kept in such small cages.

Some questioned how it could even be legal for Rhys to do so.

“How is it legal to keep a lion/tiger/animal that should be wild in the UK?! Shocked and horrified that this is permitted. It is devastating to see these animals locked in tiny cages,” one raged.

Another said: “This is so cruel and unethical. I don’t even like seeing animals trapped in cages at zoos!! How can they actually think they love animals??”

A third commented: “Those poor big cats caged up – should be against the law.”

A fourth added: “How is this allowed, is it even allowed?”

“NO NO NO. It’s all wrong. ‘Rescued’ to live in cages? I can’t stand it,” a fifth viewer tweeted.

One continued: “It is so heartbreaking to see those beautiful animals caged up because their owner ‘wanted them’ oh, so that’s ok then?”
