Luke Goss apparently turned down the offer to appear on Strictly Come Dancing because the show isn’t ‘highbrow’ enough.
Strictly bosses are said to want to sign the Bros star as it would bring viewers’ focus back to the show and not what’s going on between the celeb contestants and their pro partners.
But Luke feared appearing on the reality TV show would harm his acting career.
Luke’s brother Matt appeared in the Strictly Christmas special in 2013 but this wasn’t enough to persuade Luke to take to the floor.
‘Strictly bosses are desperate to bag Luke as the star of their line up this year as he’s so hot right now, but he’s adamant that he’s not taking part,’ a source told The Sun.
‘He takes his acting career in the US very seriously and feels the show isn’t high-brow enough for him.
‘He’s in a position to be able to choose what projects he takes on and doesn’t want to associate with anything too low rent, especially given the recent scandals.’
They added that Matt was left ‘underwhelmed’ by his Strictly appearance as it didn’t help to boost his career as hoped.
However the BBC ‘think Luke would be a ratings winner’ and would be a good way to take the attention away from the off-screen drama such as Seann Walsh and Katya Jones’ kiss scandal, and Kevin Clifton and Stacey Dooley’s rumoured relationship.
Former contestant Simon Webbe has insisted to Metro.co.uk that they ‘weren’t all sleeping together’ when he was on the show in 2014.
The singer added that couples who were together prior to Strictly wouldn’t split ‘if there’s nothing wrong with your relationship’ and ‘it’s not gonna take a dance partner to break you up’.
