Coronation Street viewers were overjoyed when Yasmeen Nazir (played by Shelley King) lashed out and attacked Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) after being subjected to months of psychological abuse. The Speed Daal chef has been trying to prove her innocence ever since but fans are convinced they’ve figured out how Geoff’s downfall will play out on the ITV soap.

Writing in a Coronation Street forum on Reddit, one fan theorised the ways Yasmeen will receive justice for Geoff’s abuse.

Loyalsupporter shared: “Will he get arrested by Craig once and for all? Or will he leave as no one wants him?

Or will Gary, Ray, Alya, Tim, Ryan or a drunken Peter kill him?

“It would make another whodunnit episode if they did.”

While a second added: I was hoping Ray would chuck Geoff down the sinkhole so he could get out of paying him.

“He should totally face justice, though.”

“Would be great if Tim [Metcalfe] (Joe Duttine) or Alya [Nazir] (Sair Khan) killed him,” another remarked.

However, another fan said: “I hope it’s not another whodunnit!

“When it was Who Attacked Ken or Who Killed Tina, people cared about the characters enough to want to know the answer.

“I’m sure there’d be a lot of people happily owning up to it to the point it’d be a who-didn’t-do-it.”

Tim was horrified when he finally discovered his father’s true nature and will be left furious when Geoff goads him into attacking him to prevent him from giving evidence at the trial.

Meanwhile, Alya has been desperate to prove her grandmother’s innocence and Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) has hated watching Geoff get under his girlfriend’s skin.

Will Geoff be attacked following Yasmeen’s trial or will he receive just punishment in the eyes of the law?

Actor Ian has teased “dark” and “dramatic” scenes in the aftermath of the trial which could hint at a vicious attack in store for the abuser.

Speaking to and other press, Ian said: “It’s tiring! But it’s good – it’s great. We’re doing a lot of night shoots at the moment.

“We’ve done all the trial stuff. That’s very dramatic – toing and froing. Courtroom drama is always good.”

“At the moment we’re doing the aftermath,” he confirmed.

“Quite a lot of it is set at night, so we’re scrabbling around in the dark and hopefully not too much in the rain!

“It’s great. It’s good stuff. It’s very dark, dramatic and exciting.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV at 7.30pm.
