Corrie's Beverley Callard plans a face lift after soap exit

Coronation Street star Beverley Callard is planning on having a face lift following her exit from the ITV soap as Liz McDonald.

She has decided to have the surgery in the hope it’ll extend her acting career.

Speaking to The Sun, Beverley explained: ‘I am going to do it, yes. It’s difficult because our industry is so sexist and ageist, still.

How many films do you see where the husband is 50 and the wife is 30? It happens all the time.’

Beverley, who appeared in last year’s series of I’m A Celebrity, added: ‘The wives are usually stuck insects, they are gorgeous, their faces don’t move. I’m just going to join that because I’m scared of not getting work.’

The actress also spoke about how she’s so unhappy with the way she looks, she never looks at pictures of herself and ‘hates mirrors’.

Back in 2020, Beverley’s final scenes in Coronation Street aired after playing the role of Liz McDonald for thirty years.

Her departure was confirmed after Steve (Simon Gregson) announced his mum had moved to Spain.

Due to Beverley’s exit being in the middle of the first Coronavirus wave, she was unable to film the scenes that would’ve seen Liz leave the show properly.
