Corrie's Tristan Gemmill shows off new hair after Robert Preston's exit

Former Coronation Street star Tristan Gemmill revealed his new look during Lorraine today after bowing out of the ITV soap as Robert Preston before Christmas.

The 52-year-old is currently starring in Harold Pinter’s TheBirthday Party and dyed his hair black after playing Corrie’s silver fox.

‘I wanted to try something different and for the play, I wanted to have a particular look so I’ve opted for this for the play.

‘If I like it I might keep it!’ he enthused to the host.

The actor is starring alongside fellow Corrie alumniMichelle Collins in his new venture, although they never actually crossed pathson the cobbles.

Naturally, then, their former co-stars have popped up in conversationbecause, as he explained, it’s a pretty intense environment.

‘It’s sort of like a family-  it’s not like a normal job,’ he said. ‘You’re in each other’s pockets 24/7.’

Robert was killed off the Street just in time for Christmas, losing his life in a bloodbath as Derek Milligan (Craige Els) got his hands on a shotgun and went off the rails.

Confirming his departure, Tristan tweeted: ‘Folks, I justwanted to let you know that the time has come for me to hang up the chef’s gearand head for pastures new.

‘There is still a lot of drama & shenanigans to come forRobert but I will be leaving @itvcorrie later in the year.’

And he wasn’t wrong – Tristan’s drama was plentiful, to saythe least.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV. Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm also on ITV.
