Davina McCall set to present middle-aged Love Island after begging ITV bosses

The Masked Singer judge Davina McCall is set to present a new show on ITV which will show single parents try and find love in a show dubbed “Love Island for the middle-aged”.

According to Mail on Sunday, Davina pitched the idea to ITV bosses and will present the show herself after being their “number one choice”.

An insider said: “Davina is the perfect fit, she is a bubbly, fun and has also endured her own relationship problems.

“Until she met her boyfriend she was a single mother too.”

Davina previously revealed her idea to Steven Bartlett on his podcast The Diary of a CEO, saying: “ could fill a villa in Love Island with middle-aged people with the best backstories you have ever heard in your life.

“They've lived a life – they're widows, they're people who have been through horrific divorces. They are people who have split up with somebody and decided they want to try going out with somebody the same sex as them.

“They're like interesting people. I'd watch that show.”

It seems that viewers won’t have to wait too long to see the different take on a dating show featuring members of the public, as ITV are currently searching for contestants.

The advert on the ITV website reads: “ITV1 are looking for vibrant single parents from across the UK who are in search of love, for a brand new dating show!

“This is the ONLY dating show where single parents can search for love, by spending time in a luxury retreat, where all the parents have been nominated by their grown up children.”

Davina has just moved in with her hairstylist boyfriend Michael Douglas after announcing their relationship back in 2019.

This came after her split from her husband Matthew Robertson in 2017, whom she shares three children with.

The Masked Singer airs Saturdays at 7pm on ITV.
