EastEnders star 'picked her toenails' amid Brian Conley casting announcement

EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has revealed that she was picking her toenails when she found out Brian Conley was going to play her dad.

The actress, who portrays Sonia Fowler on the BBC One soap, joked in a post on social media about the moment she learned of Brian’s casting.

‘I’ve finished work,’ Natalie revealed on Instagram. ‘I’m just about to go home. I’m so lucky to be at work, I’m so grateful to be at work.’

‘One minute you’re sat at home picking your toenails, the next minute Brian Conley is going to play your dad. Can’t be bad can it?’

The soap star posted the video with the caption: ‘@realbrianconley playing Sonia’s dad. Can’t wait to work with Brian. Hope he won’t be offended by my roots… oh and the tattoo covering is by me- Sonia doesn’t have a tattoo so I cover it up when at work! Happy Thursday all.

It was revealed earlier this week that actor Brian had been cast as Terry Cant, Sonia’s long-lost father.

Terry is the ultimate people pleaser and will be quick to charm everyone on the Square. He is set to make himself at home but how will Sonia react when he turns up in Walford?

Speaking about his arrival in Albert Square, Brian said: ‘As you can imagine being a Londoner and now being part of EastEnders is such an incredible moment for me.

I know for sure my dad’s looking down from above and saying: “Good on yer son!”

‘It was always his favourite programme. So in so many ways it really is an honour to be part of such an iconic show and to be working with an incredibly talented team on camera and off. I cannot wait to order my first pint at The Queen Vic.’

Executive Producer, Jon Sen added: ‘We are delighted to welcome Brian to Albert Square. We had been searching for some time but the moment we met Brian, we knew instantly we had found our man.

‘Brian’s a talented performer whose charm, wit and charisma are exactly the qualities we want for Terry.’
