Emmerdale fans distracted from Ellis watch theft by confusing ‘plot hole’

Emmerdale fans have been left scratching their heads over an apparent "plot hole" during Tuesday night's episode.

Viewers watched as Ellis Chapman (Aaron Anthony) showed off his new watch, though brother Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) didn't care for it.

Naturally, when the flashy timepiece went missing, Billy was the first person Ellis accused of stealing it – though viewers soon learnt the truth.

It turned out that, somehow, gambling addict Paul Ashdale (Reece Dinsdale) had managed to swipe it as he was seen stashing it in his pocket.

Still, viewers couldn't understand how he'd done it when Ellis had left the watch's box at home with Billy.

One tweeted: "Has Emmerdale got new writers because there are so many holes in each storyline that the soap has become unrecognisable to me."

Another wrote: "How the f*** did Paul get his hands on Ellis' watch?"

A third said: "How toe hell did Paul get that watch? How did he know it was there? Did I miss something? And why take it out of one pocket just to put it in another when they're standing there talking about it?"

Someone else wondered: "How did Paul get in their house?"

While a fifth added: "If Billy has been in all day, how did Paul get the watch?"

Paul has been struggling with his gambling again recently, so it seems he may have taken the watch to sell for cash to place some more bets.
