ESCAPE To The Chateau star Dick Strawbridge revealed the moment he found a gun hidden in his huge house.
The 61-year-old engineer explained that their home is so big that he and wife Angel Adoree haven't even explored every part.
Revealing the 150-year-old house in Northern France is packed with secrets he said: "The areas we've not been are a bit grubby.
"Part of the reason Angela's never been up there is because there are quite a lot of spiders.
"But up in the attic there is a pile in one corner – we found things in the past in there. We found an old musket at the edge."
A musket is a long gun popular in the 16th century and was developed by the French army.
She added: "We've got a number of rooms in our outbuildings as well. I'm a romantic, so there's a part of me that doesn't really want to explore it all.
"In my mind, there's a bit of a mystery, there's something that hasn't been discovered yet."
Dick and Angel appeared today on This Morning, speaking to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby ahead of a new series of their show airing on Channel 4 tonight.
Escape To The Chateau has been a huge hit, showing the couple battling to renovate the 45-bedroom house, which was little more than a shell when they bought it.
They live there with their two children, Arthur, seven, and Dorothy, six, saying they "put the children first".
Speaking about where they were sitting in the chateau's walled garden, Dick said: "The children have their own beds here, we have a paddling pool.
"The whole mindset of what we're doing is sucking the marrow out of the bones of life."
Dick added that building works are going to march on in 2021, explaining: "This year, because there are no weddings, we're doing the roof."
Dick and Angel's series, Escape To The Chateau: Make Do And Mend starts a new run on Channel 4 tonight.
It sees the pair helping ordinary Brits with their DIY issues – with Dick turning a wardrobe into a showcase for shoes.
