Despite being off screens for nearly two years, Game of Thrones continues to be one of the most-watched and talked about shows in the world. Daenerys Targaryen star Emilia Clarke recently sparked a fan frenzy with some never before seen photos in costume alongside her co-star from the HBO drama, Iain Glen.

Emilia Clarke, who portrayed the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen, recently posted a series of photos to congratulate co-star Iain Glen for joining Instagram for the first time.

Alongside photos of the pair in costume and casual behind the scenes moments during filming, Clarke captioned the photos: “The man. The myth. The LEGEND @iainglen60 HAS JOINED INSTAGRAM! [star eyes emoji].

“‘KHHHALLEEESSSSIIIII!!!’” the actress continued, adding Glen’s famous quote of her character’s name.

“My hero and my guide for over a decade… please instaworld show this man the lovin he deserves.” (sic)

One photo saw the two cosying up at an event while another showed musician Glen holding an acoustic guitar.

However, it’s two of the other snaps which got the fans most excited as the pair were seen in costume being silly on set.

Glen responded to the post by replying: “Thanks Angel. Wonderful memories are flooding back. XO [heart emoji].” (sic)

The actor later posted a behind the scenes snap of his own.

Glen captioned a photo of the pair on set, writing: “Not just a BRILLIANT actress but the loveliest and kindest of friends. XO.”

Fans absolutely loved the photos, with one replying on Instagram: “My heart can’t handle this.”

Another said: “Oh yes, welcome on Instagram our loyal advisor and protector of our Queen.”

“It’s been years since the first season of GoT where your chemistry shone,” a third commented.

“Seeing you two together, your friendship and bond, still makes me melt.”

“Best duo in the whole show!!!” another commenter remarked.

The comments continued to roll in, with writer Pandora Sykes noting, “God he’s funky,” before quickly correcting herself, “I meant hunky.”

The official Game of Thrones page also welcomed the star, saying: “Welcome to the realm, @iainglen60.”

However, many fans joked that seeing the two actors together reminded them of Glen’s character Jorah’s unrequited love for Daenerys.

“The man of the FRIENDZONE [laughing emoji],” one fan joked.

Another said: “Still putting him in the friend zone smh.” (sic)

For the entirety of the series, Glen portrayed knight Jorah Mormont who was exiled from his home and later became the trusted ally of Daenerys.

In season one, he was introduced as the aid to help the future queen adapt to her new life as a Khaleesi of the Dothraki after she married Khal Drogo (played by Jason Momoa).

Later in the series, Jorah was a key player in providing proof of the White Walker’s existence.

He joined the Battle of Winterfell after Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) ignored his and Daenarys’ warnings about the army of the dead.

The character later died protecting his queen at the Battle of Winterfell after professing his love.

All eight seasons of Game of Thrones are available to watch on NOW TV.
