My Mum Tracy Beaker begins on CBBC this week as viewers reunite with much-loved character Tracy Beaker (played by Dani Harmer). The spin-off series stars some familiar faces as it tells the story of young Jess Beaker (Emma Maggie Davies). Here’s everything you need to know about the show, including how many episodes there will be.
How many episodes are in My Mum Tracy Beaker?
Fans young and old are sure to be excited about a new series featuring Tracy Beaker.
This will begin on CBBC on Friday, February 12 and will feature some of the show’s original cast all now grown-up.
The show is based on a sequel book of the same name written by Jacqueline Wilson back in October 2018.
The story is all about Tracy and her 10-year-old daughter Jess.
However, she soon finds herself coming face-to-face with her old nemesis Justine Littlewood (Montanna Thompson).
In total, the new series will only feature three episodes for viewers to enjoy.
These will be airing weekly on Fridays at 5pm on CBBC.
After they have been broadcast, they will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
Each episode will only last 30 minutes but it’s sure to be not one for fans of the original show to miss.
What will happen in My Mum Tracy Beaker?
Set 20 years after the original series, My Mum Tracy Beaker is all about Tracy’s bond with her daughter Jess.
The series is told from the perspective of her 10-year-old daughter as their lives change when Tracy gets a new boyfriend.
The BBC synopsis reads: “Told from the perspective of 10-year-old Jess, the series tells how their lives are drastically changed with the arrival of Tracy’s rich new boyfriend, Sean Godfrey (Jordan Duvigneau).
“Sean secretly admired Tracy when they were young and when he was simply known as ‘Football’.

“Now, recently retired and with all the trappings of a successful football star, he wants to whisk Tracy and Jess away to a life of palatial mansions and fancy cars.
“But when everything starts to go classically Tracy Beaker pear-shaped, can Jess save the day?”
Dani Harmer and Montanna Thompson will both be reprising their roles in the show.
However, fans will also recognise some other familiar faces when it airs.
This includes Lisa Coleman back as Camilla ‘Cam’ Lawson and Ruth Gemmell returning as Tracy’s mum Carly Beaker.
They’ll also be joined by new cast members Danielle Henry as Jess’ teacher and Noah Leacock as Jess’ classmate.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com recently about the new series, Harmer teased: “As soon as I read it I was like, ‘This is exactly how Tracy would be as a mum.’
“Her daughter is amazing. They’re kind of complete opposites, to be honest with you.
“Obviously, Tracy kind of just speaks before she thinks – she’s very emotional, she’s very feisty.
“Whereas Jess is a bit more reserved. She’s a bit more chilled, she is really intelligent.
“But those two together, it’s just a match made in heaven. They’re not only mother and daughter, (but) they’re friends as well and I think that comes across in the show.”
My Mum Tracy Beaker begins on CBBC on Friday, February 15.
