Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock breaks down in tears at The Search act as sick Jesy Nelson forced to watch from home

LEIGH-Anne Pinnock was moved to tears after watching a mixed race band on Little Mix: The Search tonight.

The 29-year-old got emotional over Nostalia's powerful performance as she expressed her pride in the group's diversity.

"This group is just so powerful," said Leigh-Anne.

"And not just because of your powerhouse vocals and how amazing you girls are, but the fact my little niece can watch her TV screen and see girls who look like her.

"That's so important and it's needed. There is a space in the music industry for you girls, there is."

The five-piece band is made up of Shanice, Tyler Lewis, Mya-Louise Smih, Ester Durin and Tamara Salmon.

They were put together by Little Mix stars Leigh-Anne, Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirwall for their BBC talent show.

Nostalia is battling it out to win the show against YChange, Since September and Melladaze.

Judge Jesy was forced to drop out of the final at the last minute after falling unwell.

The singer, 29, had been due to appear on the panel of their talent show this evening as well as host and perform at the MTV EMAs, where Little Mix are up for four awards.

A spokesman for the band said: “Jesy is unwell and will not be appearing on tonight’s final of Little Mix The Search.

“She will also not be hosting or performing at tomorrow’s MTV EMAs.”

Host Chris Ramsey told viewers at the start of the show: "Unfortunately Jesy is unwell tonight so won't be joining us, but she will be rooting for all of the bands from home."

The group has spoken of their sadness that Jesy won't be on screen tonight.

Its official Twitter account wrote: "Can you believe tonight’s the FINAL of @LMTheSearch!!

"We’re unbelievably proud of all 6 bands and we can’t wait to see the final 4 perform! We’re so sad Jesy won’t be able to join us tonight, but we have such an amazing show in store for you all x."

The news comes just a day after the group released their sixth studio album Confetti.

Fans were quick to send their well wishes to the star.
