Louis Theroux thinks sex symbol status is ironic – but we beg to differ

Louis Theroux has admitted that he’s very flattered by his sudden sex symbol status online – even if he doesn’t quite understand it.

Speaking on This Morning, the documentary film maker reckons the sudden attention in him is mainly due down to ‘irony’ and not because he’s good looking.

‘You say that, Phil…’ he said to the presenter as he brushed off the claims, before Phil revealed that the set had t-shirts and special sequinned pillows in his honour.

Not taking it, he joked: ‘You’ve been paid to do that!’

The sequinned pillows in particular caught his eye, which would appear red until you moved your hand over it, revealing the flip side made up his face.

He then opened up: ‘I’m very flattered by that, I remember when I first noticed on the internet were people selling t-shirts and I just thought “Wow, would’ve thought it?”.’

Louis was appearing on the show to discuss his latest documentary, Mothers on the Edge.

The show speaks to those who have suffered postpartum psychosis.

In a previous interview, he admitted that he had wanted to do an in-depth piece on ‘prisoner’ Melania Trump and her marriage to the president himself, Donald Trump.

Good luch trying to get clearance for that!

Louis Theroux: Mothers on the Edge airs this Sunday at 9pm on BBC
