Love Island’s Zara McDermott joins campaign against revenge porn

LOVE Island’s Zara McDermott yesterday joined Refuge’s campaign against revenge porn.

The charity wants to outlaw the threat to share intimate images of another person without consent — often for blackmail or extortion. Currently only the sharing itself is a crime.

Zara, 24, said: “I came out of Love Island to find an ex had shared a lot of imagery of me.

“I was bombarded with all these images of myself and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through.”

Domestic abuse survivor Natasha Saunders, campaigning with Zara outside the Commons, said: “Extortion, bribery, all of those things are illegal, and yet the threat to share intimate images is very violating."
