Man savages ‘hideous’ TV makeover of his home in ‘best ever’ reaction

A homeowner's unimpressed response to a TV makeover has exploded online, with some viewers convinced it is the best reaction they have ever seen.

John Geoghegan and partner Rachel took the brave step of handing over their house to amateur designers in exchange for a massive makeover.

The couple appeared on BBC 's interior design programme, Your Home In Their Hands, in 2015. After the lavish makeover, host Celia Sawyer invited them back to their newly decorated home.

But John was not pleased when he saw his bedroom turned into a colourful floral theme decor and called it "rank".

In the clip – which has re-emerged on Twitter and has garnered more than 1 million views – the room is an explosion of colour with vibrant floral wallpapers, a blue wooden wardrobe, a green bedside table, and a massive chandelier.

Presenter Celia says: "We've got your colour. What do you think Rachel?"

Rachel pauses and replies: "Yeah, I like the wardrobe."

But John quickly jumps in and says: "Nah, it's too much. For me, it's too busy. I wouldn't have done anything like it and I don't like it."

He frowns and describes the room as the kids' play area.

"I think it looks horrendous and it doesn't look anything like a bedroom," he added. "So sorry, but it's a big thumbs down from me. It's hideous."

While Celia tries to ask for Rachel's opinion, John couldn't help but jump in and comments: "It's rank. I don't like it at all. Definitely not."

The host tries to get his wife on side and says: "So if Rachel likes it, can you keep it the same?"

John crosses his arms and answers: "Not for long."

"So what message do you have for the designer?" Celia asks. And John replies: "Don't touch the other room."

The video was re-shared to Twitter this week and captioned: "Still the best reaction to a house makeover ever."

Viewers believed Rachel was trying to be polite and not to criticise the makeover too much as they agreed with John's views.

One wrote: "I don't think Rachel likes it. She's being polite. Her husband knows her better than that woman does."

A second added: "That room was disgusting. They don’t have to say they like it if they don’t."

"Absolute belter haha. Cracking performance from the bloke," a third said.

A fourth wrote: "This gets better with every watch!"
