Former politician Jacqui Smith has been unveiled as the final celebrity signed up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. She joins the likes of YouTube star HRVY and comedian Caroline Quentin in the cast as the celebs and pro dancers alike prepare for the first ever socially distanced series on BBC One.

Best known for her work in politics and a career in broadcasting, Jacqui was announced by the BBC as the final star to take to the dancefloor this year.

“I was speechless with excitement at being asked to join Strictly, Jacqui said.

She added:”And that’s very rare for me.

The star continued: “50 years ago, I got a bronze medal for Scottish Highland Dancing and it feels about time to return to dancing.

“I couldn’t be in better hands with the Strictly team and I’m going to throw myself into the challenge. Watch out!”
