Demi Moore’s made quite a splash with her memoir, Inside Out. The book talks about her relationships with exes Ashton Kutcher and Bruce Willis, and she discussed the book even more when visiting The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
While on the show, Ellen DeGeneres noted Moore’s wedding to Willis was the best she’d been to in her entire life. Here’s what she said.
Ellen DeGeneres talked to Demi Moore about her memoir, ‘Inside Out’
Back in 2019, DeGeneres welcomed Moore to the show. “There’s a lot of sharing in this book,” DeGeneres starts while holding up her copy of Inside Out. “You talk about a lot of different things. Not just your childhood, which was pretty messed up, but you talk about your relationship with Bruce, your relationship with Ashton.”
As for if Moore felt “nervous” about releasing her book, she said she didn’t. “I feel so good about the point of view,” she said. “I have no interest in blaming or villainizing anyone. The journey in the book is about overcoming.”
Moore then noted that her daughters didn’t agree with everything she wrote in the book, but the memoir is her honest experience of her life. And this meant getting into the deep details of her failed relationship with Kutcher, who she claims had affairs during their marriage. As for why Moore stayed in the marriage for as long as she did, she explained she wanted to “please” and make it work no matter what.
DeGeneres said Moore’s wedding to Bruce Willis was the best she’s ever attended
Aside from Kutcher, Moore also talks about her marriage to Willis in her book. The Hollywood “it” couple met back in 1987 at a party, and they wed that same year. “We were moving to the gambling tables when Bruce said, ‘I think we should get married,’” Moore wrote in her memoir, according to Nine.com.au. “We’d been joking about it on the flight there, but suddenly it didn’t seem like he was kidding.”
A month after tying the knot in Vegas, the couple had a big celebration including plenty of celebrities. And Moore posted a throwback photo of the wedding in May 2020 after Little Richard died, as Little Richard officiated the wedding.
The wedding was brought up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, too. “I was at your wedding with Bruce,” DeGeneres said. “And it was the greatest wedding I’ve ever been to. I mean, just from everyone singing ‘Bruno’s Getting Married’ walking down the aisle, and Little Richard married ya’ll. It was amazing. It was a huge spectacle of a wedding.”
“And it was on two sound stages on this very lot,” Moore added. “You cannot get more Hollywood than that.”
Moore and Willis remain amicable to this day despite divorcing
Today, Moore and Willis are still friendly and supportive of one another. While they couldn’t make their marriage work, they remained amicable for the good of their children. And they even chose to isolate together during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, CNN reports.
It seems Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, was also supposed to quarantine with her husband and Moore, but a medical emergency left her out.
Willis and Moore’s daughter, Scout, enjoyed seeing her parents together, too. “They’re both such nerdy, adorable ’90s parents in a small town where they chose to have their kids and not be in LA,” she said.
We’re glad Moore and Willis have remained good friends through all of life’s ups and downs!
