The Good Doctor is in the midst of its sixth season, with Jared (Chuku Modu) making his debut as a doctor at St Bonaventure Hospital while Shaun (Freddie Highmore) has high expectations for him based on his previous experience. However, fans will be forced to wait a few weeks as the hit medical drama is missing from its usual ABC time slot next week.
Following this week’s episode titled Second Chances and Past Regrets, it’s understandable that The Good Doctor fans are eager to know what’s next in store for the doctors at St Bonaventure Hospital.
However, it looks like the drama isn’t scheduled to return to ABC next week as there is no episode set to air in its usual Monday evening time slot.
Although, the show will make a return in two weeks’ time on April 3 with an episode titled A Blip.
The reason for the delay is thanks to The Bachelor returning next week for its season 30 finale
The Bachelor’s special event will take up three hours of ABC’s Monday night schedule, running over into The Good Doctor’s 10pm time slot.
Despite the delay, fans have been given a first look into what episode 18 of the medical drama will entail when it does eventually return in April.
In a short promo clip, Shaun delivers some heartbreaking news to Dr Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff).
“Your brain cancer may have returned,” Shaun says, as Aaron is sitting nervously at his desk in his office.

However, Shaun appears to be convinced that this is not the case despite Shaun claiming: “The evidence is compelling.”
In the next clip, emotional music begins to play as Shaun and Lea (Paige Spara) discuss Aaron’s deteriorating health.
Lea believes Aaron is “scared” whilst also claiming that Shaun is worried as he could potentially lose a “big part” of his family.
A touching montage of Shaun and Aaron play as fans see flashbacks of the pair sharing pivotal moments in their relationship.
Aaron acts as a mentor and fatherly figure to Shaun, having known him since he was a young teenager.
Shaun then drops a huge bombshell on his father figure at the end of the promo.
“It would be hard to lose my father just as I’m about to become one,” Shaun reveals as his eyes began to fill with tears.
Leaving fans on a nail-biting cliffhanger, the titles then play confirming the drama will return on Monday, April 3.
Aaron was first diagnosed with brain cancer at the end of Shaun’s first year of residency.
The neurosurgeon received an uncertain diagnosis of brain cancer, and he was told he had 12–18 months left to live.
But thanks to Shaun’s insistence on further imaging and a tumour biopsy, the cancer was determined to be treatable with surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.
But fans will have to wait to see if Dr Glassman will be as lucky as he was previously as season six of The Good Doctor continues.
Season six of The Good Doctor returns to ABC on Monday, April 3 in the US.
